Buccaneer 18 (BCN) sailors within the Carolina Sailing Club (CSC) are part of a larger regional Carolina Fleet 59 which covers BCN sailors in North & South Carolina. Our fleet is active in local club sailing events as well as regional regattas throughout the South-East and Mid-Atlantic regions. We offer ample opportunities to travel to many great sailing venues to sail & compete in "one-design" (OD) fleets against BCN sailors from across the country.
The CSC BCN fleet is always on the look-out for more sailors to sail with - we welcome new sailors to come out & sail as crew whenever possible. Several of our fleet members keep & maintain more than one boat; thus we can offer loaner boats for use by guest skippers and prospective sailors during club racing & local regatta events. Then, for those who wish to acquire their very own Buccaneer 18 sailboat, our network of BCN skippers can help locate competitive used boats at fair prices. (Note: A beautiful new Buccaneer 18 in the color(s) of your choice can be ordered from the builder, Nickels Boat Works in Fenton, MI) BCN sailors work selflessly to boost participation in fleet events. Dedicated class members contribute in a variety of ways to create a “buzz” about our boat, as evidenced by growing support for our class in regional events. Wherever the Buccaneer 18 looks like a good fit for the local sailing scene, we muster our fleet so when sailors from other OD classes witness our activity, they inquire about what it's like to sail a Buccaneer. Come out & sail with us - attend a club event or regatta & become part of the effort to promote our class within the active one-design sailing community - Aaarrgh!!!
