About the Carolina Sailing Club (CSC)

The Carolina Sailing Club (CSC) promotes, organizes, and carries out small sailboat racing in central North Carolina.

We help people learn to race, hold socials and cooperate with other organizations to encourage and promote sailing.

The Carolina Sailing Club is a member of the United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) and the South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association (SAYRA).

We hold many events for our members and people in our region who are interested to learn more about sailboat racing. Learn more or take a look at our calendar.

Board Members and What They Do

commodore

Sara Paisner

The Commodore shall preside at all Board meetings. It will be the Commodore's responsibility to oversee all operations of CSC and uphold all bylaws & rules of The Club. The Commodore shall act in the best interest of The Club at all times. The Commodore shall chair the board of club officer nomination and election committee. The Commodore has the responsibility for recognizing new fleets to the Club, and assigning Trophies.

Vice-commodore

Jon Doyle

The Vice Commodore is responsible for “On the Water” activities and boat hardware/racing equipment as well as interaction with the Army Core of Engineers for reserving park venues. Preparation of club series Notice of Race and Sailing Instruction documents.

rear-commodore

Pending - This position is open

Reach out to Sara Paisner if you are interested in this position. The Rear Commodore is responsible for “Off the Water” activities such as socials and the annual board meeting.
Treasurer/secretary

Mike Van Hoy

Responsible for managing finances of the club, including membership dues and payments of obligations. Secretarial duties are to be responsible for all meeting notes, coordination, and maintenance of membership data.

Peter Hamilton

The past Commodore is responsible for organizing ad-hoc events and ensuring adequate race committee coverage.

Equipment directors

Jordan - Katie Richardson

Kerr - Steve Chobot

Responsible for Jordan and Kerr Lake Racing equipment.
Special Regatta director

Alan & Pat Backus

Primarily responsible for running the annual Governor’s Cup Regatta held on Lake Kerr.
Membership Director

Daniel Birmingham

Responsible for attracting and onboard new members.

SCore keeper Director

AnnMarie Covington

Responsible for processing all Racing Scores.

Caz Doyle

Responsible for CSC’s website, Google and RC signup applications.

Carolina sailing foundation president

Charlie Buckner

Responsible for organizing and sustaining the Carolina Sailing Foundation which supports the youth sailing program. Coordinating coaches at both Crabtree and Jordan lake training centers.

Carolina sailing foundation treasurer

Eduardo Rocha

Responsible for organization of the Foundations financials.
