Introduction to Sailing
This hands-on class starts you on your way to becoming an expert
sailor. Each day will start off with a lesson and end with re-enforced
sailing practice on the water. Sessions will focus on learning
to tack, jibe, and sail to the wind. Sailing sessions will be
available April through August. Please call (919)460-2723 to sign

Format: 3 days, two hours per day
Cost: $50 per participant (includes manual)
Bring: Water, shoes that can get wet, clothes
that can get wet. Wear sunscreen.
Intermediate Sailing
Take your sailing to the next level. Basic knowledge of sailing
required. One session are available in September. Call (919)460-2723

Format: 4 days, 2 hours per day
Cost: $65 per participant

get wet. Wear sunscreen.
Lake Wheeler Park: Introduction to Sailing

A 3-hour course designed for individuals with little or no sailing
experience, aboard a 23 foot sloop. Two to four students per class.
Taught by Duane Hedley, certified instructor, American Sailing
Association.
Cost: $80 for Raleigh city residents, $87 for nonresidents.

Sunfish sailing Classes begin in Spring. For more information,
call the Boathouse at 420-2331 or the instructor, Margaret Duncan,

Triangle Area Sailboat Rentals
Shelley Lake, Sertoma Park, 1400 W. Millbrook Rd, 420-2331.
Operates Saturdays and Sundays, 10:00 am to dusk beginning March
17. Rent Sunfish sailboats.
Crabtree Lake County Park, 1400 Aviation Parkway, 460-2723.
Park operates seven days a week, 8:00 am to 6:30 pm. Boat Rental
is open Friday to Sunday beginning April 19. Starting May 26 (Memorial
Day), Boat Rental is open Thursday through Tuesday. Hours are 10
am to 7 pm during the week and 12 pm to 7 pm on Sunday. Sunfish
are rented at $10 per hour. (Refundable $20 deposit required.)
